Learn to Paint with Nicola at the Yacht Club

  • Motor Yacht Club of Tasmania 1 Ford Parade Lindisfarne, TAS, 7015 Australia (map)

An 8-week beginner’s painting course designed to build a strong artistic foundation while gently nurturing your creativity.

This course will be held at the Motor Yacht Club with stunning wrap around harbour views and the Tasman Bridge in the distance for extra inspiration!

You’ll begin by learning to draw what you see and then build on this with confidence as you explore the art of painting with acrylics. We'll be focusing on landscapes as they are somewhat forgiving when getting started.

This course is your gateway to something much bigger! I offer weekly casual classes, advanced workshops and exhibitions exclusively for alumni. You'll become part of a supportive and encouraging community of well connected budding artists! 💛

No experience needed, just bring your curiosity and an open heart.

Weeks 1–3: Drawing with Graphite

  • Learn to create pleasing, balanced compositions

  • Understand how to bring a sense of perspective into your work

  • Master tonal shading to add depth and feeling

  • Complete a tonal drawing of your chosen subject

Weeks 4–8: Acrylic Painting

  • Learn to mix colours with confidence

  • Discover how warm and cool colours bring your work to life

  • Explore brush techniques to create different effects

  • Complete your own unique painting on stretched canvas, ready to hang on your wall

...and so much more!

This course is more than just learning techniques, it’s about making space for you. You’ll build confidence, reconnect with your creative rhythm, and meet others on a similar journey of artistic rediscovery.
